About Us
New Zealand risk management specialistThe Society for Risk Management is a specialist group established to improve risk assessments and risk analysis in New Zealand. The first Annual General Meeting was held in Wellington on 5 March 2001. The purpose of the Society is to improve the knowledge and practice of risk management in New Zealand. There has been strong interest in the new Society, with membership quickly growing to around 400 from the private and public sectors and academia. Find out more about becoming a member. Objectives
StructureThe Society includes Members and Associates as outlined in the Constitution. It is governed by a Management Committee, elected by the members for a term of two years and supported by an Executive Officer. The Management Committee comprises the Chair, Secretary and six members, one of whom is co-opted. There is also provision to co-opt a further member to ensure appropriate balance and representation of risk management interests. The Society has Special Interest Groups (SIG's), in a particular geographic area or with a particular interest or focus. ActivitiesThe Society encourages exchange between members through newsletters, meetings, conferences and events - and the promotion of good practice, for example through case studies and expert speakers.
